The sad Story Two Lost Villages.
Original Art Ladybower Dam circa 1945/47, complete with the monumental spire of the lost St John and St James Church of Derwent. Derwent was a small village drowned and lost forever, along with the village of Ashopton to make way for the dam in the late 1930s, early 1940s.
The spire was originally kept as a monument to the towns until it, too, had to be demolished in 1947 due to safety reasons. It is a sad story of two lost towns. A story i think deserves to be retold, and I'd like to tell it through a series of artworks to be sold together as one lot.
